Good morning!
Last Sundays sermon on February 20 was titled, "The Daily Cross" from Luke 9:23, 57-62. What are the "next steps" God will have us take now in response to the Word we heard?
"May we receive the word we hear each in an honest heart
And keep the precious treasure there, and never with it part."
1. Discipleship is more difficult than it appears. Do you consider yourself a "disciple"?
2. Self-denial is the mandate for discipleship, and Bishop Kenneth Monroe defines self-denial as "not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less." By this definition, do you find self-denial challenging?
3. How are you challenged to carry your cross daily - every day, even on days you don't feel like it?
4. What might be signs that your commitment is based on "emotional enthusiasm" (v. 57-58)?
5. What might be signs that your commitment decision has been "delayed" (v. 59-60)? In other words, are you procrastinating?
6. What might be signs that your loyalty is "lukewarm" (v. 61-62)?
7. God wants all of you. Are you willing to give God what God wants?
8. What questions/thoughts/convictions were raised in your mind after hearing this sermon or reading this passage? How is God speaking to you now?
